A man was charged in court on Thursday with stabbing a maid earlier this week.

Bangladeshi national Ahmeed Suhel, 28, is accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Ms Nuri Samad, believed to be an Indonesian national in her 20s.

Ahmeed allegedly used a knife with a 17cm blade to stab her at about 1.20pm on Tuesday at a pedestrian walkway at Gentle Road, a private housing estate behind Revenue House at Novena.

He is said to have stabbed Ms Nuri's stomach area twice and once on her back, leaving her with three puncture wounds and her life in danger.

On Thursday, Ahmeed appeared in a district court and was charged with one count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a weapon. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years' jail with fine or caning.
