Biker hurt in Farrer Road accident

An accident between a trailer, motorcycle and two cars along Farrer Road caused an almost two-hour-long jam on Friday morning (July 10).

Passers-by said it was raining when the mishap happened opposite Empress Market.

A 61-year-old tutor known as Mr Koh told Shin Min Daily News: "The rain was very heavy at that time (when) I saw the motorcycle pinned under the trailer truck's wheels. But there was no sign of the rider at the scene."

Cabby Oh Hua Heng, 60, who was taking a passenger from Tampines to the National University of Singapore, when he got stuck in traffic.

According to The Straits Times, the jam stretching from Bartley to Farrer Road lasted for at least 1 1/2 hours.

He told The Straits Times that three of the four lanes at Farrer Road were blocked by the trailer, two cars, an ambulance and police cars.

A police spokesman said they received a call for help at about 8am.

The 23-year-old rider was taken to the National University Hospital. He was conscious and his condition was not critical.

Police are investigating the accident.
