The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and the police will put up decals, warning about cybercrimes and scams, at 500 lift lobbies by June.

Assistant Commissioner Lian Ghim Hua, Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, said that cybercrimes, especially scams, have been on the rise since 2013.

The number of online commercial crime cases almost doubled to 3,759 last year from 1,929 in 2014.

NCPC chairman Tan Kian Soon said: "Such decals are effective as they are eye-catching and constantly remind residents of common scams.

"As cases of scams continue to rise, it is important that we continue to expand our outreach efforts to educate the public at large."
