Dr Ng the crooner! Defence Minister stars in Total Defence song update
He is used to leading Singapore in matters of defence and national security.
But Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen has taken on a new role – as the lead singer for an updated version of Total Defence song, There's a Part for Everyone.
Dr Ng posted a teaser clip of the new rendition on his Facebook page on Friday (Feb 5).
Featuring local band QuickPick and members of the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, the update incorporates new lyrics such as the word "will" replacing skill in the chorus and modernised arrangement.
According to Dr Ng, he was "saboed" into taking part by his staff, who requested that he lend his voice to the production.
The full music song is set to be unveiled next Wednesday (Feb 10), ahead of Total Defence Day on Feb 15.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Defence in 1984, There's a Part for Everyone has since become a familiar number among Singaporeans due to its use at National Day parades.
Many netizens were impressed by the updated song as well as Dr Ng's singing talent.
