A Cabinet meeting on Thursday (May 12) evening was disrupted after Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat collapsed from a stroke.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said Mr Heng collapsed at 5.34pm.

Three doctors who are members of the Cabinet attended to him before the ambulance arrived to take the 54-year-old to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Mr Heng took over as Finance Minister in October last year, after having served for more than four years as Education Minister. Just a few months ago, he presented his first Budget in Parliament.

Ministers, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, posted messages on Facebook wishing him a speedy recovery.
