This article is more than 12 months old

An Indonesian domestic worker punched her employer's two-year-old son after she was scolded by the employer.

Yesterday, Ayunda Lestari Dayuki, 24, was jailed for four months after admitting to ill-treating the child at a Bukit Batok flat on Sept 22 this year.

She punched his head thrice and hit it once with a wooden toilet brush.

A doctor's examination found swelling at the back of his head.

Ayunda was scolded after she was caught on closed-circuit television sleeping instead of taking care of the boy.

Ayunda, whose sentence was backdated to Sept 26, could have been fined up to $4,000 and/or jailed for up to four years.
