Teen convicted of killing another teen
A 19-year-old pleaded guilty on Monday (April 18) to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a teenager, who suffered a blood clot in his brain from the attack and later died.
Jeron Liew Wei Jie also admitted to one charge each of robbery with hurt and consuming methamphetamine.
Court papers said Liew had just finished a night of drinking at a club in Selegie Road at about 2am on May 24, 2015, when he ran into Mr Kelvin Gan Teck Xiang, 18, a Malaysian.
After speaking to Mr Gan, whom Liew felt was boasting about belonging to a gang, Liew challenged him to a fight.
He pulled Mr Gan into an alley and punched him twice in the face.
Mr Gan fell, hit his head on the floor, and become unconscious.
Liew continued slapping him, grabbing him by the collar and throwing him back onto the ground, and kicking him twice in the face.
Liew also assaulted and robbed a foreign worker with two friends on Jan 15, 2015 and made off with two mobile phones, worth a total of $370.
He is expected to be back in court on April 29.
