Three people will be charged in court on Thursday (Jan 7) with the murder of American stuntman John Denley Nelson.

Mr Nelson, who worked at Universal Studios Singapore, was badly hurt after a brawl outside a Circular Road club in the wee hours of Dec 24. He was in a coma for a week and died on Jan 1.

Police said in a press release on Wednesday (Jan 6) night that they received a call for assistance at about 3am on Christmas Eve.

When they arrived, they discovered two 30-year-old men with injuries at Circular Road.

Both men were taken to Singapore General Hospital, said police. One of the men died of his injuries on New Year's Day at about 10.15pm.

To date, 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. They comprise 11 men and three women aged between 20 and 42.

Nine of the suspects have already been charged in court with rioting, which carries a jail term of up to seven years.

Four more suspects will be charged on Thursday (Jan 7) – one with rioting and the three others with murder.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
