Two charged with impersonating cops
Two men were charged on Monday in separate cases for impersonating policemen.
The first, Muhammad Azmi Zakariya, 27, had allegedly presented himself as a policeman on Oct 27, 2014, and did a "spot check" on two teenagers at the void deck of a Bedok Reservoir block at about 2.30pm.
Fearful of Muhammad's reputation as a police officer, one of the teenagers, a 15-year-old boy, had allegedly given Muhammad $100.
The other teen, a 16-year-old boy, was said to have given a mobile phone valued at $480 to him.
Later that afternoon, Muhammad also allegedly deceived another 15-year-old boy into giving him a mobile phone worth $200.
In the second case, Rishinder Singh Sidhu Gurdial Singh, who was also charged on Monday, allegedly told one Teo Hwee Leng that he was an investigation officer from Clementi Police Division.

The offence happened at around midnight on Dec 26, 2014, at a coffee shop in Bukit Batok East Avenue 4.
Singh, 34, is also accused of intentionally perverting the course of justice by telling Teo what to say to a police investigation officer when interviewed at the police station.
If the men are found guilty of impersonating a public servant, they each can be jailed up to two years, fined, or both.
Muhammad can also be jailed between two and seven years, and caned if found guilty of extortion.
Singh, on the other hand, can be jailed up to seven years, fined, or both, if he is found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
