WDA warns of SkillsFuture scam

This article is more than 12 months old

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) has warned the public of a training organisation offering vouchers to those signing up for its courses.

The organisation then claims the SkillsFuture Credit using their SingPass, said a Facebook post by WDA, which is investigating the matter.

"WDA takes a serious view of any individual or organisation that abuses the SkillsFuture Credit scheme and will not hesitate to act against those who contravene our guidelines and terms on the use of SkillsFuture Credit," said the post.

Those who are contacted by individuals or organisations with such offers should inform WDA through its feedback portal.

The agency also urged users to avoid sharing their SingPass account information with others.

In May, the WDA had warned of some individuals and organisations reaching out to members of the public and offering cash in exchange for the use of their SkillsFuture Credit.

The SkillsFuture scheme, which kicked off in January, gives every Singaporean aged 25 and older $500 credit to pay for training courses.

The initiative is meant to promote lifelong learning.
