'So excited she called me at 7.30am'
TNP subscriber wins $2,000 cash prize. Son-in-law says:
Mr Eddy Abdullah waited nervously at the Singapore Press Holdings News Centre for more than half an hour yesterday.
He was collecting the jackpot prize on behalf of his mother-in-law, Madam Normala Said, and breathed a sigh of relief when he found out that she was the only winner of the $2,000 cash prize in The TNP Bonus Challenge.
Madam Normala, 49, a housewife and mother of eight children aged between six and 32, is a subscriber and loyal reader of The New Paper.
Mr Eddy, 41, an operations consultant, said: "She was so excited and called me to tell me at 7.30am that she had won."
He added: "She will probably be spending the money on a nice meal with her children."
The other Bonus Challenge winner yesterday was Mr Elvin Woo, 61, who won an iPad Mini 3.
Mr Woo, an adjunct teacher, is a supporter of TNP who writes in to express his opinion on issues like sports and education.
"I was hoping to win the iPad Mini because it would be helpful for my lessons," said Mr Woo, who teaches design at a secondary school in the west:
