S'porean bus driver fined, jailed for bribing a M'sian enforcement officer

A Singaporean bus driver was sentenced to a day in jail and fined for bribing a Malaysia civil servant.
Tan Choon Kiat, 39, handed a bribe of S$1,250 to Land Public Transport Commission enforcement officer Asmadi Mat to induce him to release a tour bus that had been seized.
The offence was committed at Temptation Pastry Cafe in Taman Daya, Johor Baru at around 4.10pm on May 7 last year.
Tan, who was not represented in court, pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was sentenced to a day in jail and a fine of RM20,000 (S$7,800) in default six-months imprisonment.
