Stolen newborn baby found within 30 minutes thanks to Facebook
It was a mother's worst nightmare. Her day-old baby was stolen from hospital by a woman dressed as a nurse.
A woman in red scrubs had taken the baby from her and left the room in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, reported CBC news.
Suspecting that something was not quite right, Ms Melissa McMahon went to look for the woman, but was unable to find her.
She informed her husband, Mr Simon Boisclair, and they called the authorities.
An Amber Alert was quickly issued in Quebec, Canada, with the suspect's face and car.
Fortunately, the alert was seen on Facebook by a group of four friends - Charlene Plante, Melizanne Bergeron, Charel Bergeron and Marc-Andre Cote, reported Mail Online.
Miss Plante recognised the woman as her former neighbour.
Wanting to be sure, the group drove to the woman's house and saw the car and the baby. They called the police and the girl was rescued.
All this happened within 30 minutes of the alert being sounded.
The 21-year-old suspect was arrested and is being monitored in hospital.
“Four wonderful people, who we’ve had the chance to meet, identified this woman thanks to Facebook. It is the only reason that explains why Victoria is in my arms at this time,” Ms McMahon wrote in a Facebook update that has been shared more than 20,000 times, before going on to thank people who shared and retweeted the police alerts
