Teen arrested for molesting girls, 12 and 15, in Hougang lifts
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly molesting two girls on Thursday (Jan 29) evening.
In the first incident, a 15-year-old girl told police at around 7pm that she had been molested by an unidentified man in a lift at Hougang Avenue 8.
About an hour later, police received a similar report involving a 12-year-old girl in a lift at Hougang Avenue 10.
Officers conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the suspect's identity.
They arrested him at Hougang Avenue 8 on Friday (Jan 30) at about 12.30am, less than six hours after the first report was made.
The teen will be charged in court on Saturday (Jan 31) for Outrage of Modesty.
Crime prevention measures:
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
- If you see any suspicious people, or you suspect that you are being followed, remain calm and proceed to a crowded area or call the police.
- Do not enter the lift with a stranger.
- If you are molested, immediately shout for help or activate your shrill alarm. Take note of how the culprit looks like as well as his/her direction and mode of escape. Call 999 as soon as it is safe to do so.
