Thaipusam scuffle: Wife of one of the accused claims police assaulted her
The wife of one of the three men accused of disorderly behaviour at the Thaipusam procession on Tuesday (Feb 3) has claimed she was assaulted by police officers that day.
The police issued a statement on Sunday (Feb 9) saying a 30-year-old woman had claimed she was hit or pushed by three police officers during the procession at Desker Road.
A police spokesman said they take a serious view of any allegation and will investigate each case thoroughly.
The three men were arrested on Tuesday after they got into a skirmish with police officers who told them to stop playing drums at the procession.
The spokesman added that if the allegations are found to be false, appropriate action will be taken against anyone found to have furnished false information.
