Toy store in M'sia apologises to actor Rosyam Nor for telling his daughter remove tudung for job

A popular toy store in Malaysia has apologised to actor-producer Rosyam Nor for asking his teenage daughter to remove her tudung if she wanted to work there.

Rosyam tweeted on Thursday (Dec 18) that he was "sad" to learn that his daughter, who was looking for a part-time job, had been told that there was a no-tudung policy at the Hamleys outlet in Bandar Utama.

He added: "Remember the shop name Hamleys and don't go there."

His tweet went viral, causing anger among Muslims in the country.

The store said on Sunday (Dec 21) it did not have such a policy and apologised to Rosyam and his daughter on its Facebook page.

It said it was a new employee, who did not have the authority to interview or hire workers, who had given the incorrect information and that disciplinary action has since been taken.

Rosyam has accepted Hamleys’ apology.
