Train services on Thomson-East Coast Line resume

Train services on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) between Gardens by the Bay and Bayshore stations were temporarily disrupted on the morning of March 12 due to a train fault.

SMRT first announced the disruption at 5.41am, informing commuters that services between the two stations were unavailable.

Train services between Woodlands North and Gardens by the Bay stations continued to operate as usual.

To assist affected commuters, free regular bus services were deployed to run between Gardens by the Bay and Bayshore stations.

In another update at 6.45am, SMRT confirmed that full train services had resumed along the TEL as of 6.24am, and the free bus services were discontinued.

According to SMRT, the fault occurred at around 5am when a train broke down at Tanjong Katong station.

Engineers were quickly dispatched to the site to resolve the issue. The faulty train was safely moved to a rail siding to allow normal operations to resume.

Station announcements were made throughout the incident to update commuters, and SMRT staff were on-site to assist passengers.
