Two police officers died during a thunderstorm yesterday evening.

They were killed when strong wind caused a tree to fall onto their police booth in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur.

KL Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said the incident occurred around 7pm.

“We dispatched 28 officers to the scene and found that a tree had indeed flattened a booth there," he said.

"One officer was pulled out at 7.45pm and another was pulled out by 8pm.”

Both men were rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The victims have been identified as Konst Mohd Sharil Hisham Hashamdi, 25 and Corporal Dzulkhairi Ahmad, 48.

The evening thunderstorm left a trail of fallen trees all over the city.
