A man without a driving licence and driving against traffic was arrested after being chased down by three police cars.

The chase took place on Feb 15, in front of Block 470 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4.

Sixty-year-old Lin told Shin Min Daily news that she had heard a braking screech and saw a police car blocking a yellow Volkswagen.

She shared that there were six or seven police cars on the road, and that a man wearing glasses got out of the car and was handcuffed by the police before he sat on the kerb. Several police officers with torchlights started searching the man's car.

Another resident, Mr Peng, 64, pointed out that when he returned home at 10pm, he heard a lot of car noises.

"I thought someone had modified the engine to make this noise. Then I saw three police cars, and many traffic police arriving at the scene one after another."

Mrs Lin said that the incident lasted about two hours, and that the man was taken to a police car and a tow truck had already towed the Volkswagen away.

In response to TNP's queries, the police shared that at 9.50pm, a Traffic Police officer spotted a car driving against the flow of traffic along Bangkit Road.

He signalled the car driver to stop but he sped off. Police officers subsequently stopped the car at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4.

The 45-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving, driving without a valid licence, driving without valid insurance, and failing to stop when ordered by a police officer.

Police investigations are ongoing.
