US man kills mother with hammer, rapes her and gets life sentence

This article is more than 12 months old

The teen killed his mother with a hammer.

Then he raped her after she died.

Kevin Jazrael Davis, 18, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder but shrugged and sighed nonchalantly when family members addressed him in the courtroom.

He pleaded guilty on Monday to murdering Kimberly Hill. Jurors in Texas took less than an hour on Wednesday to give him the maximum sentence of life in prison, Corpus Christi Caller Times reported.

Davis’ sister, Desirae Hill, and grandfather, Cylde Hill, faced him after the sentencing.

“You took the only person who had your back. Now you are all alone.Davis’ sister, Desirae Hill

Grandad's tears

Davis sat stoic as his grandfather spoke. “I don’t know quite what to say to you,” Clyde Hill said.

“You killed your mother. You just don’t do that.”

An upstairs neighbour told Action 10 News that she didn't hear anything when the murder took place.

Jurors had seen a video of his interview with detectives the day after he killed his mother.

Davis said he struck his mother about 20 times with a hammer and raped her after she died on March 26. He  turned himself in to police the next day.

Davis: I'm perverted

He also described having violent and sexual fantasies involving women, including his mother and sister.

Maintaining his sanity, Davis told detectives he was perverted, terrible and disgusting.

“I’m not mentally disturbed. I’m sane. I know what I did.” - Kevin Jazrael Davis, 18, in a video interview with the police

A doctor testified that Davis has a personality disorder but is sane and knows right from wrong.

The district attorney’s office offered Davis 60 years in prison but he rejected it, his attorney James Lawrence said.

The last thing Clyde Hill told his grandson was they won’t see each other again.

“Justice has been done. It’s just a sad situation. You just don’t take your mother’s life.” Davis' grandfather, Clyde Hill
