Video of badly damaged car goes viral, netizens wonder why it's not in a workshop

"Need just a little paint job," said one in jest.

A video of a badly damaged car being driven on an expressway has gone viral, with netizens wondering why it had not been towed to a workshop.

TikTok user sharuldzul posted the clip of what appears to be a Hyundai with its front smashed and bonnet crumpled with the caption "what happened?" and to the soundtrack of the ever-popular Jet2 holiday ad, along with some derisive laughter.

At press time, it had garnered 141,600 views, 8,584 reactions and 120 comments since it was posted on Sept 23.

Some commenters suggested the driver was on the way to Johor Bahru for repairs, which would cost less, though another noted that customs would not let him pass.

One thought the driver might be on the way to a workshop to save on towing services and to get the car repaired without claiming insurance in order not to lose the no-claim bonus, though others thought the damage would cost more than the forfeited discount.

"Even if u claim, still worth the premium increase. This kind of repair at least $10k," explained a user.

One user thought it might have been a hit and run case: "Hit and run, drive straight to workshop."

Others were impressed that the car was still running, while some suggested the driver needed to continue working despite the accident. "When your job is more important than anything else," said a user.

"When you are sick, but boss say cannot MC and must come to work," added another in jest.

One alluded to the soaring price of Certificates of Entitlement with the comment: "Maximise the COE still left with 2days 6hours."

'Survive accident sure follow good luck'

Several commenters noted the car's registration number. "2590 $50 big $50 small. Survive accident sure follow good luck," said a user.

There were also those who made jokes about the damage to the car, since it was still moving. "Driver be like 'ahh simple fix, go home later pour boiling water can fix the dent'," said one.

"Need just a little paint job," added another.

And of course, there were the timeless sexist remarks.

"Women driver will keep on driving no matter what. Seen a woman drive on a flat tires, no care in the world," said a user.
