WATCH: Video of California dad singing to dying baby son goes viral
A heartbreaking video of a Californian man singing a Beatles song to his dying newborn baby has gone viral online.
What's even more gut-wrenching: The baby boy - born prematurely - had just lost his mother who died during labour.
Father Chris Picco took a guitar into the neo-natal ward to sing “Blackbird” to son Lennon, delivered through emergency Caesarian section last weekend.
The boy was born at 24 weeks on Nov 8.
While mother Ashley died the same day, Lennon survived three days.
He died on Nov 11.
Meanwhile, the video has been watched over 700,00 times.
A statement on the memorial website said: “Our dear Ashley’s life was tragically, devastatingly cut short this past weekend. Her dear baby flickered briefly for a few days after.”
“For the next few days, Chris is spending time with his family, his friends and his community while he continues to grieve.
He recognises the chord this is striking with people and would be interested in seeing how we could partner to bring healing to others who are suffering.”
