Wild boar sighting near NTU leaves netizens amused and alarmed

Some were tickled at the sight, while others were concerned about the safety of passers-by and motorists.

A pack of wild boars was spotted grazing on a road divider near Nanyang Technological University (NTU), sparking a mix of amusement and concern online.

Some netizens were tickled by the sight, calling the animals "cute".

One commented: "Singapore is the only country where you can see animals strolling freely and living in harmony together with people. Nice to see beautiful animals like roosters around."

Others were less amused, warning about the dangers the animals might pose to pedestrians and motorists.

One wrote: "They can run wild on the roads and create accidents." Another warned against approaching the wild animals.

"Just clear off those animals on the streets for the safety of the people," one added.

A few also expressed concern for the boars' well-being, noting how urbanisation has encroached on their natural habitats.

"They got forced out of their natural habitat and people are complaining about them coming into urban space," one user remarked.

According to NParks' website, wild boars are "generally shy" but "unpredictable", and can pose risks to public safety. The agency advises the public to keep a distance from the animals, and notes that feeding the animals can result in fines of up to $1,000.
