Woman accused of assaulting helper multiple times in August 2024

In just one month, a woman allegedly abused a domestic helper multiple times through acts such as slapping the woman and hitting her head with a mobile phone.

The employer, Hasnah Hashim, 55, who is accused of committing the offences in August 2024, was handed five assault charges on Sept 30.

Court documents state that the Singaporean was in a Marsiling Lane HDB flat when she allegedly pulled and twisted the helper's ears in August 2024.

The two women were inside a vehicle on Aug 16 that year when Hasnah allegedly pinched the helper's right thigh.

She is also said to have slapped the helper's left cheek in the flat four days later.

The pair were in the flat the next day when Hasnah allegedly used her mobile phone to hit the helper's forehead.

Two days later, they were in a lift at the block of flats when she allegedly pulled the helper's hair.

Hasnah's case will be mentioned in court again on Oct 28.

For each count of assaulting a domestic helper, an offender can be jailed for up to six years, fined up to $10,000 or both.
