Woman snubs neighbour's romantic advances, so he splashes urine on her door

A man who tried to woo his neighbour with greetings, stares and unsolicited "love letters" allegedly ended up splashing urine on her front door when his advances were ignored.

The incident, which took place at Block 327B Sumang Walk in Punggol, was caught on CCTV.

The woman, a 46-year-old clerk, told Shin Min Daily News that her neighbour living on the floor above hers had moved in about five years ago.

While they occasionally crossed paths in the lift, she said the man would initiate conversations and later began behaving in a more disturbing manner.

"At first, he would say hello in the lift, but I didn't respond," she said.

"Later, I noticed him standing at his window, staring directly at my door. He even left printed 'love letters' outside my flat twice."

She said she initially chose not to confront him out of concern for her safety, as she lives alone. But things escalated earlier this year.

"On March 28, I was unwell and resting at home. When I woke up, I noticed a strong smell of urine. I checked the CCTV camera and saw a footage of him splashing something outside my flat."

In the footage she shared, the man, dressed in a black top and holding what appeared to be a plastic cup, is seen pouring liquid at her front door before fleeing down the stairs.

The walls, floor and door were stained and reeked of urine. The woman spent nearly a day cleaning the mess and reported the incident to the police.

She revealed that she had recently started dating someone, and her boyfriend had been visiting her home frequently. She suspected that it could have triggered the neighbour's actions, which very likely were out of jealousy.

The man denied responsibility for the incident when questioned by the Chinese daily. But after being told there was video evidence, he went quiet and closed his door.

Moments later, he opened his door and said: "My mother is seriously ill. Sometimes, people just do certain things. I regret it now. I don't know why I did that."

He denied targeting the woman because of rejection, insisting his feelings were of the past and that the act had not been premeditated.

He added that he was willing to apologise and compensate her, and promised not to do it again.
