Three men were killed while changing a tyre along Selangor's Elite Highway when an out-of-control lorry ploughed into them last Friday afternoon.

Kuala Langat OCPD Superintendent Zailan Tasir said two victims have been identified as driver Leong Chee Keong, 49, from Kajang, and Bangladeshi national Md Monirul Islam.

The third victim has yet to be identified, The Star reported.

The three victims were changing a punctured tyre on their Mitsubishi Triton on the emergency lane near the Dengkil rest stop in Sepang when the accident happened.

Supt Zailan said the 57-year-old lorry driver was heading home to Taman Putra Bestari, Subang Jaya, from Kuala Lumpur International Airport when he lost control of the vehicle at about 1.10pm on Friday.

"The lorry driver was travelling on the left lane when he lost control of the vehicle.

"The vehicle crashed into the Triton and ploughed into the three men.

"They died on the spot," Supt Zailan said.

The bodies were sent to Banting Hospital for a post-mortem.

ARRESTED

The lorry driver, who had minor injuries, has been arrested, said Supt Zailan.

He will be detained for further investigations and a urine test will be carried out.

Supt Zailan said the weather was fair, but traffic was busy when the accident occurred, reported the New Straits Times.

Both vehicles have been towed to the Kuala Langat district police headquarters for investigations.
