US family of five dies in apparent murder-suicide
A family of five, including three children, were found shot dead on Saturday in what appears to be a murder-suicide in the US state of Pennsylvania.
The bodies were found in the family home in the town of Sinking Spring, north-west of Philadelphia, the local Reading Eagle newspaper said.
District Attorney John Adams identified the dead as Mr Mark Short, his wife, Megan, and their children, Liana, Mark and Willow, the Eagle reported.
All died of gunshot wounds, Mr Adams told the paper.
Although the ages were not released, the youngest child was apparently under three, AFP reported.
The family was profiled in an October 2014 article in the Reading Eagle as Willow, then five months old, had undergone a heart transplant when she was just one-week-old.
"Someone else's child died so that my child could live," Mrs Short had told the Reading Eagle.
MEDICATION
A New York Times article last year said the family had trouble obtaining anti-rejection medication for Willow.
The shooting apparently took place around 3.30pm on Saturday.
It was unclear how the bodies were discovered.
NBC reported that distraught family members hugged each other as they gathered outside the home waiting for news.
A neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said he did not know the family well, but in his interactions, they had been friendly.
"I never would've suspected there were any issues," he said.
