Boy, 4, dies after getting trapped in father's car

This article is more than 12 months old

A four-year-old suffocated after he was trapped for about an hour inside his father's abandoned car outside their house in Langkawi, Kedah, when the temperature was about 34 deg C.

Muhammad Asyraaf Abdullah sneaked into the car to play while his mother was at work and when his father was at home watching TV at about 4pm on Thursday.

A few passers-by saw him in the car and tried to save him, but he was already "pale and blue", reported The Star.

His father had reportedly realised he was missing and had searched for him.

However, he did not expect him to have found his way into the abandoned Nissan Sunny.

Passers-by, including several foreign tourists, tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Muhammad Asyraaf, but failed to revive him.

He was rushed to Langkawi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Langkawi OCPD Superintendent Che Ghazali Che Awang said the police received a report about the tragedy and are investigating.
