Couple & son slashed to death in their sleep
A woman, her husband and son had their throats slashed in a brutal attack while asleep at their Malacca home early yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Maria Bahrin, 62, her husband Hassan Wahab, 70, and their son Taufik Hassan, who died from their injuries.
Three other victims, all from the same family, were also severely injured, reported The Star.
Malacca police chief Deputy Commissioner Ramli Din said the family were asleep in separate rooms when the assailant entered and attacked them with a sharp object.
"We have identified the 27-year-old suspect, who was known to the victims and is a hardcore drug addict," he said at the scene.
According to the New Straits Times, the attacker is believed to be a family member.
Deputy Commissioner Ramli said the matriarch of the family, an 80-year-old woman, was also injured in the attack.
He added that the attacker, who had previous drug-related records, fled the scene after the attack.
