Explosions in Jakarta, gunfire heard

Twitter user Khalid Khan has uploaded a video showing the moment an explosion went off.

In the video, people are heard asking in Bahasa Indonesia "Bunuh diri?" which translates to "Did he kill himself?"

A Reuters photographer said he saw "three dead people on the road".

According to Reuters, one blast was in a Starbucks cafe and security forces were later seen entering the building.

Several blasts were heard in the centre of the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Thursday, and casualties were seen lying on the ground, an AFP journalist said.

A police post on a main street was damaged after six blasts were heard.

At least three casualties were seen lying on the street, according to an AFP journalist at the scene.

Gunfire was ringing out in the area afterwards, the journalist said.

Reports online say the blast occurred outside the Sarinah Mall, near Jalan K. H. Wahid Hasyim and Jalan M. H. Thamrin.

There was "serious exchange of fire in downtown Jakarta", according to Mr Jeremy Douglas, a United Nations Regional Representative tweeting from the scene.

Earlier, he had tweeted that he'd heard six bombings.

His latest tweet says it's "now quiet".
