KUALA LUMPUR A Klang Valley-wide water disruption, which includes Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, began yesterday.

It is expected to end only on Christmas Eve, but will most likely not last the reported six days, said Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali.

A meeting took place yesterdayto discuss how to speed up the maintenance works at Bukit Badong plant, reported the New Straits Times. The works are reportedly to install a protective arc system at the main entrance of the plant.

"We want the temporary water-cut days to be shortened, especially when the festive season is just around the corner, and many are in the midst of preparing for the celebrations," Mr Azmin said yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Klang Valley residents are stockpiling water, with many squirrelling away bottles of mineral water from supermarkets, while others filled their bathtubs, reported The Star.
