Unsuspecting wife went past site of husband's fatal accident
S'porean businessman killed on New Year's Day
A Singaporean businessman was killed in a car crash in the early hours of New Year's Day while driving to meet his family for supper in Johor Baru, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Mr Lim Yew Beng, 49, who lived and worked in the city, died when his Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with another vehicle in Jalan Kuning near the KSL City Mall at around 2am on Friday.
His Malaysian wife, 43-year-old Linda Teh, told the newspaper she went to look for him when he did not turn up for the supper with their sons.
Madam Teh saw a traffic accident during the search but did not realise it involved her husband. She went home and still did not hear from him.
She then decided to go to the scene of the accident and gave her husband's particulars to the officers, who confirmed that he was involved in the crash.
Mr Lim died from his injuries on the way to the hospital.
His employees and colleagues went to the mortuary in Johor Baru after hearing of his death. They said he was a caring man who had a good rapport with his colleagues.
