Pool swoop up Emre Can
Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of midfielder Emre Can.
After finishing second in the English Premier League last season, the Reds have wasted no time to dip into the transfer market, swooping for Can shortly after completing the signing of Rickie Lambert from Southampton.
Can, who has represented Germany at Under-21 level, joined Bayer from Bayern Munich in 2013 and made 29 appearances for the Bundesliga side last season and scored thrice.
Liverpool announced the deal, reportedly worth around £10m (S$21 million), on the club's official website. It will go through once documentation is complete.
Reports have also suggested that Bayern will receive £1.2m as compensation for waiving a buy-back option on Can.
Leverkusen chief executive Michael Schade bade farewell to Can on the German club's website, saying: "Emre Can has developed very quickly at Bayer 04 Leverkusen over the past 12 months.
"We wanted to keep Emre at Leverkusen but the release clause is part of his contract. So we wish him all the best and lots of success in his time in the Premier League."
