Come and get me, Pool! Lovren slams Saints over transfer
The exodus of Southampton players to Anfield looks set to continue after Dejan Lovren hit out at the club over a rejected transfer bid from Liverpool.
Following a good season that saw them finish eighth in the English Premier League, the Saints have been haemorrhaging talent at an alarming rate.
Rickie Lambert and former captain Adam Lallana have already signed for the Reds while left-back Luke Shaw has joined Manchester United.
Lovren, who was recently on World Cup duty with Croatia, now looks set to be the third Saint to be cherry-picked by Brendan Rodgers after making an emphatic statement on where he sees himself next season while pretty much burning all ties with St Mary's.
His head's in Liverpool
Speaking to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, the centre-back said: "Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven't informed me.
"That wasn't right. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realised I've got no business staying at Southampton.
"Liverpool sent a £20m offer and they (Southampton) paid £9m for me, so they would've earned more than twice the amount.
"At this point, I don't know what I'll do and I don't like it...Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool.
"Look, I'd gladly stay at Southampton if the club had any ambitions, if they kept the key players. Not even the Liverpool bid would have dissuaded me."
Buttering up
After firing off his incendiary rounds at Southampton, Lovren then had the butter out for his prospective employers, saying: "Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"Only Real Madrid have as many fans around the world. The last time I played at Anfield, I got chills when I heard You'll Never Walk Alone.
"I would like to listen to it all the time."
