Transfers: Liverpool loan Manquillo, Lamps to City confirmed
Liverpool have sealed the loan signing of Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid for two seasons.
Arsenal were reportedly interested in the 20-year-old full-back, but the Reds have beaten their English Premier League rivals to the signature of the Spanish youth international.
Described as athletic by the club's official website, Manquillo becomes Brendan Rodgers' seventh arrival at Anfield ahead of the new EPL season.
Elsewhere in England, Manchester City have confirmed their own loan signing of former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard from New York City FC.
The deal had been announced earlier by manager Manuel Pellegrini and will see Lampard don the No. 18 shirt for the Citizens until January when the new Major League Soccer season kicks off.
In yet another loan deal, Southampton have captured Saphir Taider from Inter Milan while sending misfit Dani Osvaldo in the other direction.
Midfielder Taider featured in Algeria's World Cup campaign and is among the "talented young players" that Saints manager Ronald Koeman wants to recruit.
Both teams have options to convert the temporary deals into permanent ones.
