Asian Games hit by second sexual harassment case
South Korean police are investigating a second case of sexual harassment at the Asian Games in Incheon.
AFP reported that a footballer from the Palestine Under-23 team had been charged for groping a female worker in the laundry room of the Games' athletes village and had been barred from leaving the country.
The new case came to light within hours of Iran football equipment manager Amereh Ahmad being thrown out of the Asiad by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for verbal sexual harassment of a female volunteer.
Aside from making the Games organising committee to put up strongly-worded notices around the athletes' dwellings, the incidents have prompted the OCA to to declare that it had a "zero tolerance" approach towards such cases.
Tough stance
Speaking about the Amereh case, OCA director general Husain Al-Musallam said: "It was not a matter of a physical attack - it was verbal sexual harassment.
"The OCA will not tolerate any misbehaviour of this nature and we will take a tough stance.
"We cannot accept this, so we have removed him from the Games."
