Man who slapped Amos Yee jailed 3 weeks
The man who slapped Amos Yee Pang Sang, 16, outside the State Courts was convicted this morning after pleading guilty.
He has been sentenced to three weeks in jail.
Neo Gim Huah, 49, said he had slapped Amos as he wanted to teach him a lesson.
In his mitigation plea, Neo, an electrical engineering business owner, said he was offended by what Amos had allegedly posted online about Singapore's founding father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
So on April 30, Neo waited for Amos outside court as he arrived for a hearing that afternoon.
As Amos was walking from the Family Justice Courts to the State Courts, Neo slapped him on the left side of his face.
Neo also shouted: "Sue me, come and sue me!"
A clip of the incident went viral.
If found guilty of voluntarily causing hurt, he can be jailed up to two years or fined a maximum of $5,000, or both.
