Oct 18 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (2,406m) form analysis
Kalpana can bounce back with G1 victory
1 Danielle
Just two 2025 starts but has looked an improved filly. Came close to winning the Group 2 Langtry Stakes (2,800m) at Goodwood on Aug 2. This shorter trip probably a plus. Slow ground wanted.
2 Estrange
A minor setback saw her miss the Arc but she should be bang on for this and has terrific form over this trip, including a second to the brilliant Minnie Hauk in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks (2,400m) on Aug 21. Good chance. Soft ground a bonus.
3 Kalpana
Quickened away from her rivals to win this same race last year. Has put in some excellent efforts this year without winning and her seventh in the Arc needs upgrading after a wide trip. In with a strong chance
4 Latakia
Has not stood a lot of racing but was progressive, climaxed with an easy win in the Group 2 Alec Head Stakes (2,500m) at Deauville on Aug 23. May have found the ground too slow at ParisLongchamp.
5 One Look
Launched a powerful challenge in the ParisLongchamp straight that came close to succeeding in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera (2,000m) on Oct 5. Hopes if recovered from that and can thrive at this longer trip.
6 Quisisana
Smart acceleration won her four consecutive French races - including a Deauville Group 1, the Prix Jean Romanet (2,000m) on Aug 24. Raced too keenly on unsuitably slow ground in the Arc. Could easily bounce back on a quicker surface.
7 Ballet Slippers
Only one start in 2025 and that was a modest show in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes (2,000m) at The Curragh on Sept 14. Though likely to be sharper this time, has so far not lived up to her fabulous pedigree.
8 Bedtime Story
One stiff task after another for her, competing in Group 1s on her last eight starts. Some of those efforts would give her a small chance and this drop back in trip looks helpful.
9 Waardah
An exciting filly who handled a major trip rise when surging past rivals to win the Group 2 Langtry Stakes (2,800m) at Goodwood on Aug 2. Will handle this shorter trip well. Slow ground preferred.
10 Wemightakedlongway
Yet another compelling performance in a Group 1 with a close fourth in the Prix de l'Opera (2,000m) at ParisLongchamp on Oct 5. Just lacking a finish kick on the very slow ground. Chances.
