Oct 24 South Africa (Fairview) form analysis
Golden Palm should put her rivals in the shade again
Race 1 (1,200m)
(3) UP UP AND AWAYis an Erik The Red filly who would not be a surprise winner on her debut.
(1) RIPSNORTER was not disgraced in her two KwaZulu-Natal starts. Can win on local debut.
(4) GOLDEN ALEXIAdid not shape on thePolytracklast time but can contest the finish back on the grass.
(2) POMEROL is probably looking for further but can improve on her two Western Cape starts and is likely to improve on local debut.
Race 2 (1,400m)
(5) MISSOURI FLAME did not run badly on debut and should improve after a change of trainers.
(4) MAGNUS THE GOOD liked it back on the turf and can fight out the finish onceagain.
(3) PIBE DE ORO was caught out of his ground last week and could be a threat this track and trip.
(1) ORIGINATOR found betting support in his second start and looks capable of improvement.
Race 3 (1,400m)
(2) HOERIKWAGGO has not been reliable but she did show improvement last time and could do even better this time around with jockey Richard Fourie aboard.
(1) KAMAKAZI has tended to be unreliable but was touched off last time and her trainer has his yard in good form.
(3) ONE GIANT LEAP has improved of late. Clearly not out of it.
(4) STRANGE MAGICis battling to win but has a place chance.
Race 4 (1,400m)
(2) ROYAL KINGDOM is clearly improving and was a good winner of a handicap last time. He is back on the turf and he picked up only a five-point penalty for that win. So may well follow up.
(5) SILVERY SURFER ran well at this track last time and can be a danger.
(3) ASINANTANGA returns from a break but is not out of it.
(1) PYROMANIAC has not been reliable but is capable of contesting the finish.
Race 5 (2,400m)
A competitive-looking race.
(2) HOME REEF has made good progress of late and is coming off some solid wins, so could pull off the hat-trick.
(1) GEORGE HANDEL quickened nicely to win on the Polytrack last week and is even better on the grass, so is a threat once again.
(3) FLIGHT DISPLAY is in good form and can contest the finish.
More was expected from (4) FIRST WISH, whohas not shown her best of late but is the best weighted runner under the conditions of this race.
(7) WOOD WORLD is on local debut but he is not at his very best on a soft track and it may be that way again on Friday.
Race 6 (1,600m)
(1) GOLDEN PALMwas beaten on her debut but she has impressed with four smart wins since then. She looked better than ever when winning atGreyvillein July and should be hard to beat in this line-up.
(4) ALL SYSTEMS GO ran well on debut and was an easy winner of his second start. He might well be the biggest threat to Golden Palm.
Stable companions (2) KING PRAWN and (6) AUGUSTA ROSSO are still improving and are talented but should not beat her.
Race 7 (1,200m)
A very open race.
(3) RIVERSTONE has been competitive off his handicap mark and could win on local debut but in a very open race.
(8) BUFFALO BILL continues to improve and can follow up on a narrow last win.
Interestingly, stable jockey Richard Fourie is on (7) VIRGIN RIVER who makes her local debut for trainer Alan Greeff and she could score.
(1) THE WINTER LAKE has struggled around the turn in the Western Cape and should improve back up the straight.
Race 8 (1,200m)
(12) BENEATH THE MOON has been in good form of late and could win a race like this but it is very competitive.
(2) MAKE BELIEVE did well to win her second start and could have more to offer trying the turf.
(11) CAPE CAPRI is the other worth considering even if she was well beaten over course and distance last time.
(13) ICE CAP is capable of running well this course and distance.
