Another French Open shocker! Serena dumped out in second round
The French Open witnessed another shock as Serena Williams went out in the second round after she was beaten in straight sets by Spain's world No. 35 Garbine Muguruza.
World No. 1 Williams, who is also defending champion, lost 2-6, 2-6 to her 20-year-old opponent, who held her nerve in the biggest match of her career.
According to reports, the American tennis star simply failed to find her rhythm as she crashed to the worst grand slam defeat in terms of scoreline.
It was a bad day at Roland Garros for the Williams family as older sister Venus was also eliminated. She lost 6-2, 3-6, 4-6 to Slovakian Anna Schmiedlova just before Serena went on court.
The French Open has already seen a few shocks in the first week with Li Na, seeded second, Caroline Wozniacki, seeded 13th, and Stanislas Wawrinka, seeded third, all going out.
