VANTAGE: Bumped. Jockey J Powell, when questioned, said that the gelding travelled well in the early stages, but failed to respond when placed under pressure shortly after passing the 500m mark. He added that Vantage coughed on a number of occasions when pulling up. His explanation was noted. The veterinary surgeon reported no abnormality.

RACE 2

KUBERA WARRIOR: Cast his off-fore plate and had to be reshod behind the barrier.

VICTORY: Slow to begin after jumping awkwardly.

GYPSY: Jumped awkwardly inwards; made contact.

IN BOCCA AL LUPO: Made contact; steadied after laying inwards; became awkwardly placed.

COSTNER: Eased; made contact.

MEGEVE: Made contact; shifted inwards abruptly approaching the 200m mark, obliging his rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

THE BLACK KNIGHT: Raced wide.

MR NICHOLSON: Hung outwards.

GOLD RESERVE: Jockey C Newitt had his whip knocked out of his hand when racing tight on the outside of Victory approaching the 300m mark.

WHISPERINTHEHAND: Jockey C Brown, when questioned, said that the gelding never travelled well throughout and disappointed. He added that Whisperinthehand had worked well in the week and, at his only other start on the Polytrack, had also performed moderately. His explanation was noted.

BOB: Jumped awkwardly outwards; bumped; eased; raced keenly; steadied; carried outwards.

WHISPERINTHEHAND:: Bumped.

FELAROF: Jumped awkwardly outwards; made contact.

MILITARY ALLIANCE: Made contact; bumped; raced keenly.

TANGIBLE ASSETS: Bumped; raced wide.

DANCING TSURU: Laid inwards.

RACE 4

ROSADO: Jumped awkwardly; made contact; eased when crowded; steadied after becoming awkwardly placed.

PERFECT CHALLENGER: Made contact.

SINGLE ACT: Overraced; got his head up on a number of occasions.

PESCATORE: Laid outwards; made contact on two occasions; jockey S Sam reported that Pescatore was not striding out freely; a veterinary examination confirmed this.

ANY CHOICE: Jockey C Newitt reported that Any Choice was not striding out freely.

RACE 6

MEXBOROUGH BOY: Bumped.

MY LUCKY STRIKE: Bumped; raced keenly; eased after racing up onto the heels of One Smart Cat; returned having cast his off-fore plate.

INDICIO: Jumped awkwardly outwards; made contact.

VERTICAL START: Made contact; overraced; steadied outwards after becoming awkwardly placed.

HAMMER DOWN: Raced wide.

PEACE NO WAR: Laid outwards.

RACE 7

CASSIS OOLONG: Slow to begin.

HAPPY SAGA: Bumped; bumped again and unbalanced; inconvenienced; steadied; bumped a third time; crowded.

TIME AFTER TIME: Bumped; overreaced; crowded. An objection was lodged by jockey S Sam, the rider of second placegetter, Time After Time, against Golden Dragon being declared the winner, on the grounds of interference near the 800m mark. But, after viewing the films, Sam requested to withdraw his objection. The panel of stewards acceded to his request.

SUPER CAPTAIN: Laid inwards; bumped; rolled outwards while being steadied; crowded; returned having cast his off-hind plate; returned lame off-hind.

LUCKY COME: Bumped; rolled inwards.

SOUL COMMANDER: Began awkwardly.

HOST THE NATION: Bumped; returned having cast his near-hind plate; jockey O Chavez reported that the horse had returned with his saddle having shifted back during the race.
