All about Spieth

TALK OF THE TOWN

The golfing world is buzzing about a 21-year-old. Jordan Spieth won the US Masters at just the second time of asking yesterday morning (Singapore time).

The American completed a rare wire-to-wire win in the season's first Major, showing maturity beyond his years to win by four strokes. In his wake, Spieth left a gallery of golfing greats, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson, all singing his praises. Here's more about the latest golf sensation.

1 Jordan Spieth has a special-needs sister, whom he credits his success to. Ellie, 14, who has a neurological disorder, is the inspiration of the Jordan Spieth Charitable Fund, which raises money for special needs youth, military families and junior golf.

2 Spieth's girlfriend, Annie Verrett, is his high school sweetheart.

3 He has spent £1.57 million ($3.1m) on a five-bedroom mansion with a 288-bottle wine cellar.

4 The £1.23m he gets for winning the US Masters takes his career earnings to £9.008m.

5 He can't do handshakes, after a 2013 TV interview with ESPN's Tom Rinaldi, who left Spieth's handshake hanging.

6 He predicted Masters success at the age of 14.

7 His celebration meal was at Chick-fil-A. And the fast-food chain opened on a Sunday just for him.

8 Spieth's caddie, Michael Greller, used to be a full-time maths teacher.

9 Spieth watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, starring Russell Brand and Kristen Bell, on the eve of the final round. The next day, he called it "one of the greatest movies in the world".

10 None of his family plays golf. His father Shawn played college baseball while his mother Chris played basketball.
