Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki have split up again - just days after sending out the invitation cards for their wedding.

Golfer McIlroy made the announcement through management company, admitting he got cold feet as reality set in when the cards were sent out.

The Northen Irishman said: "The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails.

"There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people.

"I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we have had."

Short-lived engagement

McIlroy and Wozniacki - known collectively as Wozzilroy - had been together for more than two years and had announced their engagement on New Year's Eve.

This latest development is not the first sign of love troubles for the couple as rumours of a split surfaced last October after a difficult year for the two former world No. 1s.

According to Independent.ie, many famous people were on the wedding invite list, including former US President Bill Clinton.
