Kuala Lumpur & Ipoh trackwork

REAL MEAN stepped up preparations for a comeback win in tomorrow's Class 4 event over 1,100m in Race 6 with slow work at Sungei Besi yesterday.

Taken out by race-jockey Jose De Souza, the four-year-old Australian-bred gelding by Real Saga cantered one lap on the sand track and pulled up looking fresh and fit.

The going was yielding.

Real Mean, who arrived unraced in January 2013, has three wins, three seconds and a third in 17 outings.

He went three-up last October when he beat Big Rock by one and a quarter lengths in a Class 4 event over 1,500m in yielding going.

Last time out, Real Mean ran second to Luwak Coffee in a Class 4 event over 1,400m in good going and was two lengths behind the winner, who clocked 1min 24.0sec.

Trained by Richard Lines for Goodsir Stable, Real Mean looks ready to go one better tomorrow.

Fast work was done on the No. 2 grass track and sand track while slow work was confined to the sand track.
