A banana might is a good source of potassium and it turns out it is also a good way to make a statement against rascism.

The fruit landed at Barcelona's defender feet when he was about to take a corner. Instead of ignoring it, he went to pick it up and proceeded to eat it.

The Independent reported that he decided to respond in that way because he felt that humour was the best way to deal with this ugly specter.

"We have suffered this in Spain for some time," Alves said. "You have to take it with a dose of humor. We aren't going to change things easily.

The Daily Mail reported that after the game he said that: "I don't know who threw the banana but I want to thank him. It gave me the energy to put two crosses in for our goals"
