Brazil 1 Germany 7 - the game that made Twitter explode
Brazil might have been severely burnt during their 7-1 hammering at the hands of Germany in their World Cup semi-final.
But the historic match was the perfect fuel to fire Twitter to a few new records.
The match officially became the most discussed sports game on the social media website, which recorded a staggering 35.6 million tweets for the duration of match.
The previous record was set by this year's Super Bowl in February with 24.9m tweets.
Germany's fifth goal scored by Sami Khedira also broke a Twitter record by generating 580,166 tweets per minute (TPM), wiping out Miley Cyrus' infamous MTV VMAs performance which hit 360,000 TPM.
New World Cup all-time top scorer Miroslav Klose, who scored his 16th goal against Brazil to take the title from former Selecao striker Ronaldo, was the most mentioned player during the match.
