Cech: We can end United’s title tilt

Arsenal custodian goalkeeper Petr Cech hopes to end Manchester United's title challenge at Old Trafford tonight.

The Czech No. 1 told Arsenal Player: "It is another six-point game.

"We drew against Spurs and there is a little gap between us and Liverpool, so you want to make sure that you stay very close and that every time they drop points, you are ready to take advantage.

"With United, they are behind us, so to leave them (further) behind is one aim and the second thing is to stay near the top, within touching distance of everyone else.

"If United want to think about closing the gap and having a chance to fight for the title, they need the three points."

Former Gunners boss George Graham, however, believes the Red Devils aren't even in the title race.

He told goal.com: "I don't see United in the title race, even if they get a result on Saturday.

"A few weeks ago there was talk of United and Everton being added to the mix, but from what I've seen I think it will be a tall order this season.

NIP-AND-TUCK

"It is going to be nip-and-tuck this season.

"For me it is between Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

"They will all go on a run of good results and then have a hiccup.

"It is good for the Premier League, but not for United."

Former United winger Andrei Kanchelskis said it's Jose Mourinho that has not been good for United due to his "destructive" playing style.

He told 888sport: "Mourinho doesn't like to play wingers.

"They play a different system now and it's not like before, when United played 4-4-2.

"Now it's more defensive, looking for results and no longer playing the open football like before, it's destructive.

"United are struggling to score goals because there is no service.

"They need better support for their attackers.

"I had people like Gary Neville and Paul Parker who allowed me to play. They were great defensive players down the right side so we could concentrate on attacking more."

Fellow former winger Robert Pires believes that Mesut Oezil can lead Arsenal not only to a win over United but also the EPL title.

He told Sky Sports: "Oezil can make the difference and I hope he can make Arsenal win the title this season because he has very good quality. Now he needs to put in his head that he can score...

"I think when you see the names of the players at Arsenal, you can say: 'This team can win the title at the end of the season.

"Because you have Oezil, (Alexis) Sanchez, (Santi) Cazorla and (Laurent) Koscielny. I think all the players have won some titles with their country or the national team, so this is very good for Wenger and the club because they can put this experience on the team." - Wire Services.
