City snap up Mangala
Manchester City have signed French defender Eliaquim Mangala from Porto on a five-year contract.
The 23-year-old centre-back, who was in Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad, had been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium for some time and was depicted signing for City and undergoing a medical in leaked footage from the club's official website at the end of July.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has finally gotten his man, with City reportedly shelling out a transfer fee in the region of £32 million ($67.1m) according to the BBC.
The Chilean boss said: "He is already a fine player but in my opinion, he has all of the mental, physical, technical and tactical attributes to become one of Europe's very best defenders.
"Eliaquim is a player I believe will make an immediate impact in the Premier League, thanks to his physicality, his reading of the game and quality on the ball."
Mangala becomes the sixth addition to the Etihad Stadium and will link up once again with former Porto teammate Fernando.
He will don the No. 20 shirt.
