City tweet motivated me to score, says Totti
Don't ever taunt Francesco Totti on Twitter - you just might regret it.
Manchester City found that out the hard way when they greeted AS Roma on social media ahead of their Champions League Group E clash with a little jibe at the club legend.
Totti clearly must have seen the tweet, uttered "Sfida accettata" (Italian for challenge accepted) before strolling out onto the Etihad Stadium pitch on a mission to shove City's tweet down their throats.
And as you should know by now, the 38-year-old scored a delightful chip to cancel out Sergio Aguero's early penalty, becoming the Champions League's oldest scorer in the process as the match ended 1-1.
Beautiful goal
Totti later told Gazzetta dello Sport: "City’s tweet? It really brought me luck. It was a beautiful goal and a good performance.
"I really wanted to score as soon as possible as I had not found the back of the net this season.
"But above all, I am thrilled for my team because we have shown a lot of strength, which was not easy."
This isn't the first time that City ended up with egg on their face on social media.
In July, their Twitter account was bombarded by trolls during a Q&A session with winger Jesus Navas when they decided to use the hashtag, #AskJesus.
#EpicFail is all I have to say.
