Crocked! Franck Ribery out of France's World Cup plans
France's Franck Ribery has been ruled out of the World Cup after he failed to recover from a back problem.
After rejoining the French squad for training earlier in the day, the Bayern Munich winger pulled up with a back pain and was unable to continue, reported the BBC.
The latest development forced Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps to concede that his star player would not be able to make it to Brazil.
A statement released by the French Football Federation on Friday said: "An MRI done in the early afternoon confirmed the sudden worsening of Ribery's condition and led the medical staff to conclude his inability to train and play."
Ribery's injury is a major blow for France, who have also lost Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier to a leg injury.
Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin and Montpellier's Remy Cabella have been called up as replacement.
